Perugia flower show 2023 returns with a new location
Perugia Flower Show changes look: Villa del Colle del Cardinale will host the autumn edition of the event which will bring, from 16 to 17 September, the best of Italian nurseries and craftsmanship.
Perugia Flower Show is ready to amaze its audience again: the eleventh autumn edition of the market exhibition of rare and unusual plants which will be held from 16 to 17 September, has a new home. After the wonderful experiences inside the Frontone Gardens, the Santa Giuliana Gardens and the Barton Park, the kermesse is ready to welcome its audience in one of the most beautiful and fascinating historic homes in Umbria: it will be Villa del Colle del Cardinale the new location of Perugia Flower Show!
THE NEW LOCATION
Built in the mid-sixteenth century, the historic residence is surrounded by a large garden that will host the best of the nursery and a beautiful historic lemon house which, instead, will see the presence of the best Italian craftsmen. The naturalistic complex of extraordinary landscape charm and undisputed monumental value, is still today of great scientific interest, due to the variety and richness of rare botanical species, so much so that it is the object of analysis and study by the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Perugia.
The decision to move to this marvelous historical location derives from a maturity that the Flower Show Circuit has reached over the years thanks also to the Florence and Verona editions, both hosted in historic homes such as the Corsini Garden and the Giusti Garden. Even the Perugia edition, therefore, felt the need for a historic and prestigious location such as Villa del Colle del Cardinale.
THE EVENT
The market exhibition, now an unmissable appointment, will allow the public to discover the sector’s news in a national preview and to meet the best collectors and producers of botanical rarities in person. The September edition will, as always, be entirely dedicated to the varieties that will give splendor to our gardens or balconies even in winter!
Inside the garden, visitors will have the opportunity to meet more than 60 exhibitors among the best on the national horticultural panorama with their enchanting collections: orchids of every colour, among the rarest citrus fruits, unusual shrubs, roses of all kinds, trees from fruit of every variety from those of well-being to those in ancient and rediscovered species, ornamental grasses, and the bulbs which in this period are essential for every garden, and for every balcony! There will be perennials and evergreens, collections of aromatic plants and peppers of all degrees of spiciness. Not to forget of course the bonsai, ornamental sage but also carnivorous plants, cacti and aquatic plants.
It is precisely the change of location that will make possible an important turning point in the selection of the operators present, the building and the magnificent orangery in the garden will open their doors for the first time to the best Italian and European craftsmen and collectors. From indoor and outdoor furniture, to Country Chic clothing, fine ceramics, jewels made with flowers and resin up to products and fabrics to furnish your tables in the best possible way.
One of the novelties will be the bon ton in the winter garden, increasingly present in our green spaces in order to allow everyone to fully enjoy them throughout the year and why not with a little style.
There will also be products deriving from nature which, within the event, will form the “Area dei Golosi”, ready to satisfy every palate. It will be possible to participate in guided tastings, cooking courses with flowers, discover ancient products found and much more. A green food point will be ready to welcome all visitors curious to discover an alternative natural cuisine that always respects the traditions of our territory, and fun will be guaranteed thanks to music and floral toasts.
Furthermore, each edition of the Perugia Flower Show sets out to include many innovations from an educational point of view: many free collateral activities held by the exhibitors themselves, including seminars also dedicated to entomology and specialist gardening courses, creative workshops for adults such as botanical painting, scientific meetings, show cooking with flowers and educational activities for children of all kinds, from getting close to animals to “getting your hands dirty” with clay, flowers and leaves. It will also be possible to visit the historic and fascinating internal rooms of Villa del Colle del Cardinale.
